João Balouta is a portuguese neoclassical contemporary composer with more than 90 songs released worldwide, including 2 albums and an EP, since 2017. Balouta actually collaborates with companies composing music for Films, Games, and Avertising and releases music with Andante Piano Label, from the Netherlands.
When João was 17 years old, he just discovered his talent for music, when suddenly, he listened the famous Amelie's movie soundtrack - Comptine d'une autre étè - Yann Tiersen. That was the start, when João decided to learn that song on piano, finishing it in few days, without ever playing piano before. After that, he developed his technical skills learning other piano songs, from classical to neoclassical composers.
The most interesting part of it is that, when João was learning those songs, he just couldn't stop creating new variations on them. That was the beginning of his journey, mainly as a piano composer.
2005// At 17, João decided to learn piano on Youtube and start to compose some piano songs. In that year, he studied in Regional Conservatory of Music in Vila Real and later in Conservatory of Music and Dance, in Bragança (Portugal) on piano course.
2011// Completed his Bachelor in Music, in Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, in Portugal. João also studied Music, for a semester, in University of Hradec Kralové, in Czech Republic.
2017// Released his first album called [Morphosis] for Piano and Ensemble and began his Morphosis Tour in Portugal, in Teatro de Vila Real (his Hometown) and Spain, in Sala Eutherpe, Léon.
2020// Released [Aurora Borealis] album and held concerts in Portugal, in AUDIR and Teatro de Bragança.
2021// Started to collaborate with and Andante Piano label, and released [Hidden Smile EP] reaching millions of streams all over the world.
2022// Celebrated 5 years Morphosis anniversary and released [Morphosis] album (Piano solo version).
2026// Releasing [LIMIAR - Entre o som e o silêncio] album and presenting it live in Maia, Bragança and Gaia.
Actually, João has composed and released more than 90 classical crossover pieces, reaching more than 5 Million streams, in 90 countries all over the world, on Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube.
